Launching a scathing attack on past government of Mulayam Singh Yadav and the present government of Mayawati for pushing Uttar Pradesh backwards instead of forward, Rahul Gandhi has said Congress (I) will reverse this trend. Congress (I) leader said UP was once a leading state in the country. But during the last twenty two years leaders of parties like BJP, SP and BSP have worked on their personal agendas rather than for the development of the state. “Tell me if there is one state that hasn’t developed under Congress rule. Congress (I) rules with vision and plans for the future. The leaders in Uttar Pradesh do not talk about future, eradicating poverty, but just concerned about today. They do not talk to farmers, they do not interact with common men,” Gandhi said adding “What would they plan for your future?” Congress (I) has experience, visionary plans and necessary expertise to develop the state. Rahul Gandhi assured the people that UP will leap-frog to No. 1 position, if Congress (I) is given chance to form government in 2012.
