Rahul Gandhi: Congress motto is removal of poverty and backwardness

Slamming at parties like BJP, BSP and SP for doing politics in the name of religion and caste, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has highlighted that Congress (I) does work for abolition of poverty and removal of backwardness.  Congress (I) does not work of any caste or religion; it works for all the people to take the country forward, said Rahul Gandhi while campaigning for the upcoming Assembly elections. “I say poverty should be abolished and backwardness should be removed because this is the true meaning of politics. Politics does not mean filling pockets of ministers with money and not going to the villages to meet the people,” he added.  “Garibi hatao” and “pichrapan hatao” is what Congress (I) is working for, Rahul Gandhi said. Highlighting that these parties work only for their own groups, Rahul Gandhi urged the people not to trust them anymore. The Congress General Secretary requested the people to vote this time for Congress (I) and promised that a government of the poor by Congress (I) would work for all the people without discrimination of caste or religion.

Mayawati overlooked atrocities on dalits: Rahul Gandhi

Lashing out against Mayawati for failing to check crime against dalits, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said that she conveniently overlooked atrocities on dalits.  National Commission for Schedule Caste (NCSC) on certain complaints of assaults against dalits wanted to investigate, said Rahul Gandhi while addressing a public meeting as part of his campaign for the upcoming Assembly elections in February 2012.  But her government did not cooperate. Even for periodic review of such cases between the Commission and the state government she declined to allot rooms in the state guest house to the Commission. One such issue is that ‘dalits’ have been allegedly failed by CSM Medical University. This confirms that Mayawati has been more concerned about manipulating the system to suit her needs and did not bother to check the atrocities on ‘dalits’. The worst part of it is that she is not allowing central agencies to investigate atrocities against ‘dalits’ because that will expose the truth, said Rahul Gandhi. Cautioning the people not to trust her anymore, Rahul Gandhi urged the people to give a chance to Congress this time to form a pro-poor government.  He promised that a government of the poor by Congress (I) would work for the welfare of the dalits and poor and ensure justice for them.
