All India Congress Committee (AICC) President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi said while speaking at a public rally in Almora at Uttarakhand that the BJP Government had created a disparity between hills and the plains.
Sonia Gandhi slammed BJP for the lack of development in Uttarakhand and asked people to remove it from the state. "There is no development in Uttarakhand under the BJP rule. The Congress-led Centre's funds for development are being looted or misused. The BJP is responsible for the rampant corruption across the state," said Sonia Gandhi.
Sonia Gandhi continued "The BJP has been trying to create a disparity between the hills and plains in Uttarakhand. Only 13% of total electricity is being provided to the hills. It seems the BJP government thinks the people in the hill areas could manage with the sun light and the moon light," said the Congress President.
Sonia Gandhi also claimed that the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government at the centre had sent thousands of crores of rupees for the development of Uttarakhand. "Whether the money was properly utilized, you ask the BJP," Sonia Gandhi said.
"The BJP gave jobs meant for SCs/STs to its own people and pushed the backward classes into further difficulties," said Sonia Gandhi. The Congress president added if Congress comes to power in Uttarakhand, the party will fulfill all its promises. "The Congress does not make false promises. Please vote for us and if we come to power, we will fulfil all our promises," said Sonia Gandhi.
