After finishing three rounds of public contact programs in UP, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said that this time UP people are giving encouraging support to Congress (I) for upcoming Assembly elections. He has said the flagship schemes of Congress (I)-led UPA government like Mahatma Gandhi National Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) has created groundswell of support for the Congress (I) at the grassroots. To generate employment opportunities for the poor in rural areas this central sponsored scheme provides minimum 100 days employment to the poor just for the asking at Rs 120 per day. Poor people have now got job which is giving them income to meet the necessities of life and above all they are feeling a sense of respect in the society. This scheme brought under inspiration of Congress (I) President Sonia Gandhi has enabled them to stand on their feel rather than depend on the occasional doles from the state.
