BJP had no intention of passing the Lokpal Bill: Congress (I)

Congress (I) has condemned BJP for back tracing on proposed Lokpal Bill which the country needs badly for its fight against corruption. BJP had no intention to pass the bill. So they hit upon an ingenious devise to move 187 amendments, many of them contradictory and many of which could not have been reconciled in a few minutes. Congress is now using the Lokpal logjam in Parliament to tell voters in the poll-bound states that BJP had sabotaged the bill in order to keep its chief ministers out of the ambit of the Lokayukta. BJP's concerns over niceties of "federalism" to oppose the provision for Lokayukta, were actually lame excuses to shield its CMs against graft, said Congress (I). BJP has never been supporter of federal principles.  Rather it has had a history of advocacy for strong centre only.  BJP’s new sudden love for federalism speaks of its hypocrisy, said congress (I).
