Rahul Gandhi: Rampant corruption in Uttarakhand

Slamming the BJP government in Uttarakhand for corruption, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said the state government failed to utlise central funds meant for development works. He charged the state government of "stealing" the money meant for the poor. Congress (I) leader took a dig at both former chief ministers Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, whom BJP asked to quit to make up the party’s image and his successor B C Khanduri. He urged the people to change the BJP government in coming Assembly elections if they wanted benefits of Central schemes, meant for poverty alleviation and employment generation, to reach the needy. The Centre gave money to Uttarakhand for various schemes. But the money was stolen, he said. Money for MNERGA, Kumbh and various schemes was siphoned off.  The money meant for the common man was also misutilised by the state government. He also alleged corruption in allotment of Hydro Electric Power Projects in the state.
