Mayawati’s ‘elephant’ in Lucknow eating people’s money: Rahul Gandhi

Launching a scathing attack on Mayawati government for corruption which siphoned off central funds sent for development and welfare schemes for poor, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi while addressing a public meeting has said, “An elephant sitting in Lucknow is eating all your money.” He was referring to Mayawati’s BSP party whose election symbol is elephant. As a result of corruption in Mayawati’s government money meant for welfare schemes is not reaching the poor. So change in UP government is necessary to stop this corruption.  She does not care to visit various districts or people to know their problems. Mayawati does not know what is happening in the state, said Rahul Gandhi. As a result corrupt ministers and BSP leaders do what they like and pocket funds sent by central government for development schemes. If given chance this time to form government in the state, a government of the poor by Congress (I) will change all this, said Rahul Gandhi.
