Mayawati did not focus on capacity building programs for poor: Congress (I)

Congress (I) has blamed Mayawati government for simply doling out money to the poor instead of undertaking capacity building programs for them. Simply giving out money to poor does not help them.  Rather it creates dependency factor in place of capacity building among the poor. Congress (I) approach for development of Bundelkhand is therefore focused on capacity building programs instead of distributing money to the poor for vote bank politics. Rahul Gandhi has been personally visiting drought hit Bundelkhand region and interacting with people there. A special package of Rs 8,000 corore was sanctioned by Centre for integrated development of the region. Activities like digging of canals, building of water reservoirs, digging of deep tube-wells, plantation of trees are meant to build the capacity of people to come over adverse conditions there and be able to earn living for themselves. But there is so much corruption in Mayawati government that benefits of development schemes are not reaching the needy people, said congress (I).
