Congress alleges Financial irregularities in centrally sponsored schemes in UP

Congress (I) has said Mayawati’s claim of having undertaking development in Uttar Pradesh during the last five years stands exposed by the adverse report of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG).  The CAG report has found a series of flaws in implementation of various centrally sponsored programs in the state. The report has pointed out financial irregularities and excessive expenditure in the construction of memorial parks, in the implementation of water conservation schemes in Bundelkhand etc. For the Prime Minister Gramodaya Yojna, Special Component Plan and Accelerated Rural Water Supply Program, schemes meant to provide drinking water security to Bundelkhand only 11% (instead of the mandatory 25%) of allocation for drinking water component was released by the state government between 2005 and 2010. This shows lack of interest of Mayawati’s government in implementing development works and welfare schemes for the people of the Pradesh, said Congress (I).
