Referring to CAG report that Uttar Pradesh government misused developmental funds meant for Bundelkhand and Poorvanchal regions Congress (I) has blamed Mayawati government for committing fraud with the people for whom these funds were meant. Congress (I) has said Mayawati government diverted Rs 330 crores of developmental funds for Bundelkhand and Poorvanchal regions to altogether different schemes. As a result the object of overall development of these regions could not be achieved. Both these regions of the state are facing acute problem of under-development and unemployment. While drought and hunger have compounded the miseries of the people of Bundelkhand, diseases, closing of handlooms and unemployment have kept Poorvanchal in its grip. Congress (I)-led UPA government has also issued special packages of thousands of crores for these regions. But Mayawati government has altogether ignored the development of these two regions, said Congress (I).
