Priyanka Gandhi Vadra: A leader should respect people
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra who has been campaigning in Uttar Pradesh for Congress toured various parts of Amethi and Raebareli, the parliament constituencies of her brother and Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi and Congress President Sonia Gandhi respectively, sought the support of the people to support and elect a Congress Government in the state.
Priyanka Gandhi reminded the voters “This is the question of your prestige, because a leader is your servant… The basic quality of a leader is to honour and respect the people… He should respect your feelings… A leader should realise that it is not his responsibility but it is his religion to find solutions to your issues.. I cannot make them understand this… I can just convey this to you.… I can just remind you and tell you that you posses the entire strength”.
“Every vote is valuable not because it helps some party to come to power, but it protects your rights.. Don’t forget your rights.. If you cast your votes to the proper candidate, then you are strengthening your own rights… You have witnessed that Congress identifies your rights and makes policies accordingly… You got the MGNREGA scheme from the Centre.. What is MGNREGA? It is the right for job.. The Government believes that every youth, how poor he may be, should have the right for job.. The right to education and right to information also were made by the centre realizing your rights and to find solutions to your grievances… So you will have to think whether you require a Government which is concerned for you and committed to serve you with devotion or a Government which wastes crores of rupees to build big buildings, to construct palatial buildings and factories for the leaders, look after their own selfish interests and dragging you backward. The entire strength is in your hands… If you want to bring about changes then you will have to wake up..You did injustice with your region in the past 10 years..Had you elected a Congress MLA in last 10 years, there would have been much more development in UP with the help of at least with the MLA funds... “ said Priyanka Gandhi.
Rahul Ji is also with you and he is your MP.. He considers that it is his responsibility to serve you.. He will ensure that his MLA is functioning properly for the development of this region.. You therefore please keep it in your mind that time has come for you to wake up and vote for a change.. Think properly and bring in changes in your state… Reject those politicians who negate you… I am confident that you will remember my words when you go to vote on 19th and you will elect Dr. Muslim with a thumbing majority… Give Congress a chance to serve you.. Sorry I kept you waiting for long…, Priyanka Gandhi concluded.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra who is one her second phase of campaign in the poll bound Uttar Pradesh said that these elections in UP are not make-or-break for her brother Rahul Gandhi. Priyanka Gandhi said "Nothing is a make or break election. I'm a younger sister; my brother needs no push from me."
On the campaign trail in Uttar Pradesh, the charismatic Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi on Friday asked the electorate to realise the strength of their vote and exercise it for a change in the state.
"Election is the time when leaders come with all sort of promises. You have the wisdom to recognise the genuineness of their candidates and the political parties", Priyanka Gandhi said at a public meeting in Balbhadrapur area of her brother Rahul Gandhi's parliamentary constituency Amethi.
"Politics has become bad and become opportunistic and moves ahead only because of division of your vote", she said. Stressing that it is wrong that people beg before their leaders, she said that in the past 22 years it has been caste and religion-based politics in UP which has been dominating at the cost of development.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in Balbhadrapur, Amethi (U.P) on 3 Feb 2012
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra “Rahul Gandhi is committed to remove the backwardness of U.P”
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra kick-started her second leg of campaign in Amethi and Raebareli by addressing a meeting at Balbhadrapur in Amethi on Friday.
“You know that this is election time and people come to you seeking your support. I too have come (laughs). I had sought your support in 2007 too, but you did not honour my request. What did you get in five years? The roads you see were built by the Centre. The facilities for water also were given by the Centre. What did your MLA do? Definitely he did one thing; he built a luxurious bungalow for himself and that too with your money. This state of affairs is not the case of your place only; the entire U.P is like this,” said Priyanka Gandhi Vadra starting her address.
“I had met my fellow workers last week. One Congress worker told me that the MLA here has not indulged in assaulting anybody; didn’t send anyone to jail, not victimized anyone, did not grab lands of others. And more importantly he hasn’t got anyone assassinated. This is the situation here,” she added.
“The people here are deprived off their rights. The narrow politics in the past 22 years have destroyed the state. The politics here thrives on divisive ideologies. Now you please think yourself”, urged Priyanka Gandhi.
“Who is a leader? He should be your servant. He should have been among you and not on the stage. It is very sad that you are forced to beg for your rights,” she told.
“When you will realize this? When you will wake up? You suffered for the past 22 years. They betrayed you in the name of caste and religion. Where is the development here? You go to Maharashtra or Andhra Pradesh and experience the progress there. You can understand what the meaning of development is. Young people of Uttar Pradesh are forced to go to those places and work there,” wondered Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
“Now you have a chance after 22 years to change the state of affairs. You know Rahul Ji. He is very stubborn. He has been working hard and putting in all tremendous effort. I once asked Rahul Ji what he would get by putting this much amount of hard work. He responded that he is never bothered about the election results. Uttar Pradesh is now backward and he wants to bring in positive changes,” she informed.
“Now this is the time to think about a change. This is not the question of pride and honour of my family. But it is the question of your prestige. It is the question of the future of your children. So think yourself. It is evident that no satisfactory development took place in your region. Think about your region as well as your state. Strengthen the hands of Congress. You will witness how the state progresses,” urged Priyanka Gandhi.
“During elections many parties and leaders come to you. I also do come (laughs). But you have the wisdom to understand the real intention of the parties and its leaders. You have the strength. Nothing will happen without the power of the people. The assembly elections are on 15th February. Think for a positive change and think about strengthening Congress. You will have a MLA who understands your problems and to solve those. Thank you. Jai hind,” she concluded.
