During the two-day visit to her Lok Sabha constituency, Rae Bareli, Congress President and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi informed that the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre is taking many steps to improve the quality of education in the state.
"Society and country will develop only when more people are educated. The Congress-led UPA government has therefore taken many steps in this direction," informed Sonia Gandhi, after laying the foundation stone for two road projects in Raebareli.
Sonia Gandhi added that the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) is taking concrete steps to strengthen policies on education. "In every block of the country, a model school is being set up, for which 75 percent aid is being given by the central government. Uttar Pradesh has given permission for 148 such schools to be set up," informed Sonia Gandhi.
Other than education, Sonia Gandhi also spoke about roadways project in the pipeline for Rae Bareli. "Work on widening the Rae Bareli-Allahabad road would be started soon at a cost of Rs.300 crore. The UPA government has given approval for national highway projects at a cost of Rs.1,800 crore," added the Congress Presdent.
Sonia Gandhi also interacted with the Congress workers, representatives and other officers and reviewed the progress of development projects in the region.
