AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi while addressing a public rally in Banda, Uttar Pradesh said that the people of U.P has seen the regime of Samajwadi Party and Mulayam Singh for three times and he urged the people not to trust the Cycle which has already puctured the hopes of the people in the state.
Targeting the Samajwadi Party, he said that the centre sent money for giving
employment to people but a few months before elections, Mulayam Singh gave them
unemployment allowance instead. We sent employment but you got
unemployment. Shri Gandhi further said that the Samajwadi Party’s Umeed Ki Cycle
has been punctured.
“You gave them three chances and your hopes were punctured. The police
recruitment scam took place in SP regime and many of you paid money to get jobs,”
he pointed out.
Attacking the BJP, Shri Rahul Gandhi said that if its leaders had bothered to visit
Bundelkhand and see the situation here, they would have felt ashamed for giving the
slogan “India Shining.” Shri Gandhi said that when he visited Bundelkhand two years ago, he saw the plight of the people here and took a delegation to meet the Prime Minister who immediately gave an Rs 8,000 crore package for this area.
“Did that money reach you? Did you get wells dug? No, because the elephant in
Lucknow ate it all up,” he said.
He said that time had come for a change and he wanted Uttar Pradesh to regain lost
glory. “I have not come here to win elections but to change the state. You must vote
for the Congress so that you have your own government -- a government that
understands you and your welfare and works for your future,” he said.
